Who says you can't go home??

Hola todos!!

So this morning I arrived in Chile. Hard to believe it because it honestly feels like I never left! I don't know what it is about this country, but it just puts me instantly at ease.

So the trip was longer than I remember. I was delayed one hour in Chicago. We finally took off around 3 and landed in Miami at 7. 3 hours with the time change. So then I walked around looking for food, which really found nothing satisfactory and read The Fountainhead until I got on my flight to Chile at 8:30. I sat next to this little viejita! She was so cute and probably around 70+. She just started rambling about the oddest things: The death of her husband, her family in New Jersey, her future trip to Argentina and Bolivia to visit freinds. The culture is just so warm and inviting. I mean every Chilean is just always so friendly and ready to talk and talk and talk. Finally she went to sleep... lucky! I couldn't. But I did manage to watch Ratatouille! It was so cute! The whole cabin was sleeping and I definitely was laughing and gasping when that stupid ghost would show up unexpectedly. I know I'm a dork. Whatever.

So I slept some and then finally got into CHILE! I met this girl who was moving to Santiago to learn spanish because she fell in love with a Chilean man in Montreal! Random... who could blame her? The chileans are b e a u t i f u l !
But... NO BOYS! So then I met up with Vivi and we drove 1hr and half back to my house! I have to sleep upstairs, but its ok. So then I went to sleep and we got up and went out to lunch in downtown Rancagua. Mexican food... it was delicious! hehe. Then we came home and Vivi and I laid out by the pool talking and reading. Gosh I have missed her! She caught me up on all the gossip and it was really fun!

Tomorrow I leave really early for the beach.... PICHILEMU! Sweet name huh? Its supposed to be the best beach down here for surfing... should be cool to watch! It was sooo hot today it will be nice to have the cool ocean breeze. Well that being said I probably won't be able to update for about a week!

Cuidense! (take care) I miss you all!

Chilean Fusion

So I just had ABS. It was my last one, and I don't have school so I decided I would cook. What a better way to explain Chile than through food right? So I made empanadas and aflajores. Wow it was pretty hard saying goodbye to everyone. I really love that group and I'm totally going to miss them each week... I mean my core Brittany and Deirdre.. our little chats! :(

BUT i talked to mama vivi today! :) It made me so happy and so excited to hear from her. I am going to go to Pichilemu, the beach, with Francisca on Monday! It gives me no time to spend with my family right away, but its ok. Its so crazy! Then apparently they are having really good sales, so mama vivi and I are going to do some wonderful shopping! Ahhh that country will just always have my heart. Can't wait!

Una Semana

Today is my "graduation". It was totally bittersweet. Obviously, some classes a lot harder to say good-bye to than others. Though I now can start getting excited for Chile! I cannot believe in just about a week!! :) My family e-mailed me yesterday and said they couldn't hear the phone ring becaus they were outside at the Pool! It made me so home-sick! I have missed them so much, and am just so blessed to have this opportunity!

So for all of those curious... I will be going once again to the Valenzuela family in Miranda. This tiny little town out in the country of Rancagua. Its about 1 hour south of the capital city, Santiago. Currently is 87 degrees and sunny! I was reading Allende today, Portrait in Sepia, her description of the ports of Valparaiso just made sooo ready to go back to the country that will always have my heart. Chile! So get ready for some interesting blocks on my journey. Nothing planned... so for those of you who don't know me well... totally out of the norm! Should be fun! :) When is Chile not fun?
